Gamma Zeta Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Kappa Chapter
Message From Our President
My name is Edgar Sanchez, I am the President for Gamma Zeta Alpha Fraternity, Inc. for the 2020-2021 school year. My organization has three main principles which are Academic Excellence, Community Service, and Brotherhood. I joined Gammas because I saw leaders in brothers who were already a part of the fraternity and this is something that drew me to them. The brotherhood that I have grown to love is like no other, it is literally a home away from home. AfterI joined greek life, I began to see a positive change in my academics and had more opportunities to network with those in professional fields. A favorite quote of mine is “Veni, Vidi, Vici” which means “I came, I saw, I conquered.”
History
My organization, which is the Kappa Chapter of Gamma Zeta Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was founded on June 11, 2000 here at UCSB. There are 6 founding fathers for the Kappa chapter and we have 25 chapters throughout the states of California, Arizona, and Colorado. Our colors are Black, Silver, and White.
Philanthropy
Our philanthropy is centered around the California Academic Decathlon, which is a non-profit that provides an effective academic enrichment program in which ninth through twelfth grade students compete as individuals and as team members in a series of ten academic tests and demonstrations that are based on an advanced curriculum. This program allows high schoolers to demonstrate their scholastic achievement and academic excellence.
